14.1 Sundry Journals
Select the menu option Sources|Pending Journals to open the Pending Journal List window.
Click the 'Add New Record' icon in the toolbar to insert a record, then press F3 to open the detail window.
Set the document Date, Reference and Text.
To link to an external document, click next to 'Linked' and browse your PC using the standard Open File window dialog. On locating the file click 'Link'.

Click 'Add Line' to enter journal lines. Set the Account, line Text, quantities and units of measure and debit and credit amounts, along with any VAT codes and amounts under the General tab. When entering VAT amounts, use the correct VAT code.

Click Analysis tab to enter the Analysis 1/2/3 codes.

Click Currency tab to enter foreign currency journal lines. Set the currency code first and this will bring in the current exchange rate when the cursor moves to another column. Enter the foreign currency amount and double click the debit or credit column to obtain the converted amount. (If the debit/credit already contains a value it will be reset to zero first; double click again to get the converted value.)

When the journal lines balance to zero (including VAT amounts), will be enabled, allowing the journal to be posted to the ledger. Until posted, the journal does not form part of the ledger. It can be held indefinitely in Pending Journals prior to posting. It does not even have to balance, so incomplete journals can be entered until all information is received that allows the journal to be completed.
The journal, once posted, can be viewed via menu option Ledger|Posted Journal Edit. The journal can be edited; the only restriction being that the line item must not be marked as 'Cleared'.

The Pending Journal remains after posting, so that it can be used again - as a template - for subsequent use.

Use this 'Pending Journal' facilty to enter accruals, prepayments, adjustments, sundry bank receipts and payments, and any other journal type not covered by other functions.

14.2 Journal Reversal
Any ledger journal, once posted, can be easily reversed by selecting menu option Ledger|Posted Journal Edit. After selecting the required journal and pressing F3 to open the detail review window. Click 'Reverse'.
This creates a new journal to the same accounts and analysis codes, but with the amounts and quantities reversed.

This feature is especially useful when reversing accruals etc.
Alternatively, open the Pending Journal, click 'Reverse' to change debits to credits, and credits to debits, before clicking to post the reversed journal to the ledger.
