27. Setting User Authorities

27.1 Users
Select the menu option Setup|Users to open the User List window then press F3 to open the System Users detail window.
Use menu option Records|Add record to create a new record and enter the users name.
Set the number of decimal places to be used to display and print quantity values and the number of decimals for unit price values (the latter effects how unit prices are shown on Sales/Purchase Orders).
You can also change the default font and font size used in every window.
When creating a new application user, be sure to click 'Change Password' in order to set the intial password for the user.

27.2 User Authority
The main task on creating a new user is to set the menu access authorisations. Click 'Set Permissions'.
Use the 'Select Company' drop-down list to pick each company; in turn; that the user is to have access too. The puesdo company "SYSTEM" must be selected to grant the user access to Setup and Utilities menu options.
For each company, highlight the menu options that the user is to have access too. When a company is complete, click 'Save Company' to save the company settings.
Proceed with the next company.

When a new company is created, all users that are to access the company must be granted that access.



Unauthorised menu options will appear greyed out when the user logs on to the application.

Warning: never remove access to menu option Setup|Users for the 'Admin' user. Otherwise, you will never be able to change user authorities, if no other user has the permission.
